community futures action plan launch

Following several months of research and engagement with the people of Port Glasgow, The Community Futures Action Plan was launched in late September 2007.

The plan was compiled under the Community Futures project through a partnership between Inverclyde Community Development Trust and Inverclyde Council Community Development. It was led by an advisory group of local representatives. Based around local people’s vision for the future of Port Glasgow, it identifies seven key areas for work, and suggests new projects which the community of Port Glasgow would like to see happening, these are:

    doing more for young people

having a town centre to be proud of

provision of parks, sport, play and recreation

heritage, the river and the future

    building the strength of communities

    community safety

    developing care and services

For a copy of the plan, please call into the centre, or to read more and download a copy, please use the link above.

2008 will be an important year in terms of regeneration for the town. Please check the website, come into the centre to find out what ways you can get actively involved or contact Jackie Smith, our Community Futures worker, at the centre on 01475 806763.
