centre accessibility

When the interior of centre was being designed during the refurbishment of John Wood Street, ensuring access to all areas of the building for all was one of the main priorities.

To this end, all public areas of the building are accessible to everyone and persons who need to use a wheelchair or are transporting a child in a pram can reach every room and facility in the centre.

It should be appreciated that the building is built over several levels - the legacy of the buildings former life as several retail units, however to combat this smooth-inclined rampways have been built in the connecting corridors and handrails have been installed throughout the facility.

Additionally in areas where fire doors must remain closed when not in use, we have installed powered press-button door-opening systems to ease access.

Our bathrooms are designed with the maximum amount of floorspace possible and several cubicles have handrails installed. Additionally, for persons who cannot use standard facilities, or would prefer additional privacy, a disabled persons WC is provided, which again has been equipped with a powered door. A pull-cord alarm system is also installed in this convenience.

The building has been designed throughout with fire-retardant materials and, in the event of emergency, there is provision of ample and accessible fire exits.
